Build Your Own Mount: 300+ Modular Parts, One System

Most mounting companies sell you a complete kit and call it done. iBOLT takes a different approach. With over 300 interchangeable components (holders, arms, bases, adapters, and ball joints), you can build a mount that fits your exact setup. If your needs change six months from now, you swap one part instead of buying a whole new mount.

The foundation of the iBOLT modular system is the ball-and-socket joint. iBOLT supports six ball sizes: 17mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm (B-size), 38mm (C-size), and 57mm (D-size). The 25mm B-size is the most common for phones and smaller tablets. The 38mm C-size is standard for industrial, forklift, and heavy-duty applications. And if you need to bridge between sizes, iBOLT makes adapters that convert from one ball size to another.

Cross-Compatible with Industry Standards

iBOLT components are cross-compatible with RAM Mount B-size and C-size parts. If you already have RAM arms or bases, you can use iBOLT holders on them (and vice versa). The system also supports standard mounting patterns including AMPS (four-hole), VESA (75mm and 100mm), GoPro, and 1/4-20 camera thread. This means iBOLT mounts work with action cameras, GPS units, monitors, and thousands of third-party accessories right out of the box.

The iBOLT Mount Configurator walks you through the process step by step. Select your device, pick a base type, choose your arm length, and the configurator shows you exactly which components you need.

How the Modular System Saves You Money

Say you mount a tablet on your forklift today using a pillar clamp base, a 38mm arm, and a universal tablet holder. Next year, you switch to a different tablet model. With iBOLT, you replace just the holder (typically $20 to $40) and keep the base and arm. Need to move the mount to a different vehicle with a flat surface instead of a pillar? Swap the base to a drill mount or magnetic base. The arm and holder stay the same. Every iBOLT component is backed by a 2-year warranty, and all parts are sold individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

What mounting sizes does iBOLT support?
iBOLT supports six ball sizes: 17mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm (B-size), 38mm (C-size), and 57mm (D-size). The 25mm and 38mm sizes are the most widely used and cover the majority of phone, tablet, and industrial mounting applications.
Are iBOLT parts compatible with RAM Mount components?
Yes. iBOLT 25mm (B-size) and 38mm (C-size) components are cross-compatible with RAM Mount parts of the same ball size. You can mix and match holders, arms, and bases between the two brands.
How does the iBOLT Mount Configurator work?
The Configurator is an online tool on the iBOLT website. You select your device type, your mounting surface (dashboard, pillar, wall, desk, etc.), and your preferred arm length. The tool then shows you all compatible components and lets you add them to your cart individually. It takes the guesswork out of building a custom mount.
Can I build a custom mount for my specific setup?
Yes. With over 300 components available, you can combine bases, arms, adapters, and holders to create a mount for virtually any device and surface. The Mount Configurator is the easiest way to find compatible parts, but you can also browse individual components by category.
What ball sizes are available for iBOLT mounts?
Six sizes: 17mm (compact devices and action cameras), 20mm (small GPS units), 22mm (TomTom-compatible), 25mm/B-size (the standard for phones and tablets), 38mm/C-size (heavy-duty and industrial), and 57mm/D-size (extra-large tablets and monitors). Adapters are available to convert between any of these sizes.
Do iBOLT mounts use the AMPS mounting pattern?
Yes. Most iBOLT holders and bases use the AMPS four-hole pattern, which is the industry standard for mounting electronics. This means iBOLT components work with any AMPS-compatible device, case, or accessory.
What is the AMPS mounting pattern?
AMPS stands for "Amps Mounting Pattern Standard." It's a four-hole rectangular pattern (roughly 30mm x 38mm) used across the electronics and mounting industry. GPS units, phone cases, tablet holders, and many other devices use AMPS holes for universal compatibility. iBOLT builds AMPS compatibility into its holders and bases so your mount works with the broadest range of devices and accessories.
